Anthony Herro, DDS

Special Needs Dentistry, Creighton Dental School

Dr Herro is a general dentist, and is committed to helping his most vulnerable patients calm their fears. He has focused an area of his practice on patients with special needs his entire career.

A graduate of Creighton Dental School, he completed an oral surgery externship in San Francisco and studied IV Sedation at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Patterson, New Jersey. Dr. Herro was a single recipient of the American Dental Society of Anesthesia Horace Wells Senior Student Award for outstanding service in Anesthesia in June 2005. Dr Herro has worked with his father, Dr Ellison Herro, an MD Anesthesiologist, for 15 years providing dental treatment while patients are sedated or under general anesthesia.

Dr. Herro is a Founding Member of the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health, and one of their respected faculty members in the Special Care Clinic. He is a member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, Special Care Dentistry Association, American Dental Association, and Arizona Dental Association.

Joseph Santoro, DDS

Implantologist & Dental Surgery, Colorado School of Dentistry

Dr. Joseph Santoro, a graduate of Colorado School of Dentistry, completed an internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a fellowship in Oral Implantology at the University of Miami ‚ Jackson Memorial Hospital where his training included implant placement, bone grafting, sinus elevation, soft tissue techniques as well as all types of implant based restorations. Furthermore, Dr. Santoro studied Sedation and Anesthesia at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Patterson, New Jersey. As one of just a handful of fellowship trained implant surgeons in the country, Dr. Santoro has dedicated his career to the pursuit of excellence in implant surgery and bone regeneration.

Dr. Santoro is a regional and national designated lecturer for MIS Implants. He holds professional memberships with The American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and The Academy of Osseointegration and is an active volunteer at the CASS dental clinic.

Michael Jejna, DMD

Special Needs Dentistry, University of Massachusetts

Dr. Michael Jejna, a native from Phoenix, Arizona, graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with Pre-Medical degree in Kinesiology. While attending UMass Amherst, Dr. Jejna was a forward on the division 1 men’s soccer team that reached the final four in a game that was televised by ESPN in 2007.

After completion of his undergraduate degree, Dr. Jejna attended dental school at A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health. In addition, he obtained his dental license through the American Board of Dental Examiners and graduated at the top of his class.

Dr. Jejna volunteers every year for the Give Kids a Smile (GKAS) event in east Mesa and provides care to underserved children from the Mesa Public School District. Dr. Jejna provides dental care to patients of all ages and is committed to restoring the oral health of those within the community.

Ellison Herro, MD

Anesthesiologist, Medical School

Dr. Ellison F. Herro, MD, Medical Director for the Herro Medical Center is an Anesthesiologist and Board Certified Pain Management Specialist with the American Academy of Pain Management.

He has practiced Anesthesia in the Phoenix metropolitan area for over 30 years specifically in the fields of Pediatric and Neuro Anesthesia.

Tamer El-Gendy, DMD, BDS, MS

Prosthodontist, Cairo University

Dr. Tamer El-Gendy is an Associate Professor and Director of Prosthodontic Department at The Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health. He graduated from Cairo University (Egypt) – School of Dentistry in 1996. He completed his Advanced Prosthodontic training and his Masters degree at the University of Minnesota in 2001. He also completed a Postdoctoral Implant Dentistry Fellowship at The Ohio State University in 2002 where he focused on restoring advanced implant patients and treating implant complications. In 2002, he became a full-time assistant professor at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. He was awarded the Larry Peterson Outstanding Young Educator Award by the Ohio State University in 2004 and The Outstanding Teacher of the year in 2005 and 2009. He teaches Complete Denture, All ceramic restorations and Dental Implant course to pre-doctoral and graduate students at The Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral health. He lectures nationally and internationally in several continuing education courses and meetings.

Percy Twine, DDS

Endodontist, University of Pennsylvania

Dr. Percy Twine Jr. is originally from Chesapeake, Virginia. Dr. Twine attended Pennsylvania State University where he completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Food Science‚ discipline focused on all technical aspects of food. Food science incorporates concepts from many different fields including microbiology, chemical engineering, biochemistry and many others.

Upon the completion of his graduate studies at Penn State, Dr. Twine decided to pursue a career in dentistry. He attended The University of Pennsylvania for his dental training. Dr. Twine continued his specialty training in Endodontics at Louisiana State University.

Dr. Twine is currently a member of the Arizona Dental Association, and is board-eligible for the American Association of Endodontics. He also enjoys teaching and is faculty at the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health. Dr. Twine and his family reside in Phoenix and love the Central Phoenix area. Most Sundays in the fall, you will find the Twine family cheering on their favorite NFL team ‚ The Pittsburgh Steelers..

Hiren Patel, DDS

Pedodontist, Virginia Commonwealth University

Dr. Hiren Patel is a certified pediatric dentist, trained in the oral health of children, including children with special needs, from infancy through adolescence.

He graduated from the Virginia Commonwealth University Dental School with the distinction of academic honors. His experience in general dentistry, coupled with his volunteer work with the Red Cross and several service missions, ignited his interest and passion for pediatric dentistry.

To further his expertise, Dr. Patel completed a two year Pediatric Dental Residency at the University of Minnesota. The program provided him with excellent mentorship and plenty of hands-on training while treating hospitalized children with complex medical cases.

After completing the residency, Dr. Patel and his wife Archana moved to Arizona to be closer to family. They have two beautiful children, Shayen and Anya, and absolutely love raising their family in North Phoenix.
